Praia do Amado

 

The Praia do Amado , set on the beautiful, wild Costa Vicentina, tends to be a safe bet all year round.

And although it is open in every season, it is certainly busiest in summer.

More precisely, it sits in the village known as Carrapateira, in the municipality of Aljezur. In the western part of the Algarve.

What to see at Praia do Amado

At Praia do Amado, dark cliffs and hills make up the backdrop, and the beach itself is a broad sweep of sand with room for everyone, open and free of big hotel complexes in sight.

It is one of the beaches with the best surfing conditions in all of Portugal, and a paradise for anyone who loves nature.

This is where they hold major surf championships and bodyboarding events too.

Facilities and access

On this beach you will find all the facilities you need for an easy day out: places to eat, a few shops nearby selling the basics, and beach kit for sale.

The beach is a fair way from the main towns of the Algarve. The nearest village, as we mentioned above, is the one known as Carrapateira, and 20 km away you will find the lovely town of Aljezur.
