Eurotel Altura

The Eurotel Altura, in the small village of Altura, Castro Marim, has all the comforts you would expect from a four-star hotel.

The biggest plus is that nothing stands between the hotel and the sea. It sits right in front of the beach and every room has a terrace with a sea view. If you are up early, before the crowds arrive, you can watch and hear the fishermen at work from your terrace. At that hour the sea barely moves.

Spa and wellness centre

On the lowest floor of the hotel there is a small wellness centre with a jacuzzi-style pool, a sensory shower and a Turkish bath. Directly opposite is a room where you can choose a massage or a beauty treatment.

Most of the hotels we have visited have small gyms with fairly basic kit. But the one at the Eurotel was really well equipped.

Kids' club

While you treat yourself to a moment in the massage room or an hour in the gym, you can leave the children in the space designed just for them, the Kids Club. There is a different programme every day, and even evening activities for parents who wa

nt to share a dinner in the restaurant or a while in the hotel bar on their own.

Entertainment

In the hotel gardens there are two pools, a playground, a tennis court and a mini-golf course.

There are sun loungers and cushions so you can sit by the pool, or a little further away under a beautiful olive tree, for example.

A path surrounded by nature takes you from the hotel pool area down to Alagoa beach.

You open the security gate with your keycard and follow the path down to the sea. Keep an eye on your surroundings, there are always fascinating insects and reptiles to spot.

Alagoa beach

Alagoa has a huge stretch of sand, so it is easy to find a quiet spot to settle into.

Just as you reach the beach you will find a lovely beach bar and sun loungers belonging to the Eurotel Altura. That way you never have to leave the water's edge if you want shade, something to eat or a cold drink.

Altura

The village of Altura is essentially given over to tourism.

Like many other places in the Algarve, a few decades ago Altura was once a farming and fishing village. These days, holiday lets and services for tourists have taken the leading role.

It covers barely 11.1 km², and the pedestrianised street in the centre, where most of its bars and restaurants are found, is just one block from the hotel.

At the end of this street there is a car park for campervans.
